Accessibility & WCAG 2.1 Level AA Conformance
Industry Training Academy is committed to providing an accessible online learning experience for all users, including individuals with disabilities.
The Industry Training Academy Learning Management System (LMS) has been designed and evaluated to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. WCAG is an internationally recognized accessibility standard developed by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to improve access to web content for people with disabilities.
Our Approach to Accessibility
Accessibility was incorporated into the development and testing of our Learning Management System. Our accessibility review included a combination of manual evaluation, automated testing, assistive technology testing, and functional testing.
As part of this process, we:
- Manually reviewed the LMS against the WCAG 2.1 Level AA success criteria to identify and address potential accessibility barriers.
- Conducted automated accessibility testing using WAVE, an accessibility evaluation tool developed by WebAIM.
- Tested the LMS with screen readers to verify that content, navigation, controls, forms, and interactive elements can be accessed and understood using assistive technology.
- Tested keyboard navigation and focus behavior to help ensure that users can navigate and operate the LMS without the use of a mouse.
- Reviewed color contrast, text readability, and visual indicators against WCAG accessibility requirements.
- Reviewed forms and form interactions, including labels, instructions, validation, and error messages, for accessibility.
- Reviewed page structure and semantics, including headings, navigation, links, buttons, controls, and other interactive elements, to support clear and consistent use with assistive technologies.
- Used multiple testing methods rather than relying solely on automated accessibility scans. Manual review and functional testing were used alongside automated tools to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of accessibility.
Conformance Status
The Industry Training Academy Learning Management System conforms to WCAG 2.1 Level AA based on our accessibility review and testing.
WCAG defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. Level AA includes all applicable Level A and Level AA success criteria and is a widely recognized standard for web accessibility.
Accessibility is an ongoing responsibility. As the Industry Training Academy LMS is updated and new features and learning content are introduced, accessibility will continue to be considered as part of our development, review, and testing processes.
